What Is The Archdiocese Afraid Of?
April 30, 2006
We quote the following from the April 26, 2006 Pastoral Bulletin (issued by the Office of the Chancellor):
"The organization originally known as 'One Catholic Voice For Action' , is now going by the name 'Spirited Lay Action Movement.' This organization may not meet at any parish or other entity of the Archdiocese of Miami. Please contact Msgr. Michael Souckar for more details."
What is the Archdiocese afraid of ? Why were we not notified and/or given the courtesy of a call to discuss our position and how this organization is structured and why it is structured as it is? Is it because of the Grand Jury that indicted two people of St. Maurice in Broward ? Do they feel our letters to the U.S. Attorney for South Florida and the IRS were the cause of this?
Is it because of the fact that the archdiocese had to admit to the media that all parishes did not have pastoral and finance councils after they clearly stated to OCVFA (in a personal meeting) that they did and that OCVFA was misinformed ? They have now had to answer that twice, given the St. Richards incident of the pastor buying a $500K plus home, off of Parish property, and vacating the existing rectory (no finance council -
still isn't except in name only) and the lawsuit brought against the
pastor and one of the deacons of St. Augustine's for misuse of funds. Is it because we continue to press for legal action to be taken against the former pastor (any maybe others) of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Cutler Bay for missing funds? Is it because of the fact that they (the Archbishop, et al) cannot answer the discrepancies and misstatements about what Vision 2000 has collected and where that money has gone ?
Is it because we continue to remind the archbishop and his assigns that the parish is not owned by the clergy - this is fact according to their own Canon Law?
We are disappointed in the archbishop and his assigns. There is no sign that the ecclesial community wants to enter into a meaningful dialogue on these issues.
PLEASE HELP US CARRY ON WHAT OCVFA BEGAN - THE TRUTH - DISCLOSURE -ACCOUNTABILITY - TRANSPARENCY.
