Jesus spoke to them again, “I am the light of the world.
Whoever follows me will have the light of life and
will never walk in darkness.” (John 8: 12)

When I was a child, my speech, feelings, and thinking were all those of a child; now that I am an adult, I have no more use for childish ways. What we see now is like the dim image in a mirror; then we will see face to face. What I know now is only partial; then it will be complete, as complete as God’s knowledge of me. Meanwhile these three remain: faith, hope and love; and the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13: 11-13

We are a lay-based 501 (c)(3) Not-for-Profit Corporation that is dedicated to gaining full disclosure, accountability and transparency in all financial, liturgical and spiritual programs involving the Archdiocese of Miami.

We are an organization which believes we are all brothers and sisters of Jesus Christ, whose mission it is to actively promote the inclusion of all Catholic People of God in the ministry of the Catholic Church.

We are an organization called to support one another, particularly those who have been marginalized, ignored and disenfranchised by the Archdiocese of Miami and the Church of Rome.

We are an organization that believes in the rights of Catholics within the Church because we are all brothers and sisters who have been created in the image of God, regardless of gender, race, culture, sexuality and economic status.

We are an organization dedicated to ensuring that the rights of all Catholics are protected and nourished so that the Archdiocese of Miami and the Church of Rome follow the Gospel Message which promotes the inclusion of all people in the reign of God.

This is what the Lord asks of you; only this, to act justly, to love tenderly, and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8

We seek to fulfill our mission by working for:

bullet Inclusive and equal participation and representation of the Laity, in all levels of ministry, administration, leadership, and decision-making within the ecclesial community.

bullet Full financial disclosure, accountability, truthfulness and openness at all levels of the ecclesial community.

bullet Consultative and collaborative servant leadership styles and structure at all levels of the ecclesial community.

bullet Full participation of the Laity in the selection of our local pastors and bishops.

bullet Active engagement in respectful, reflective, and informed dialogue between Laity, Religious, and Clergy to effect solution of contemporary issues facing our Church.

bullet Conducting the affairs of the ecclesial community in an egalitarian manner, respectful of our individual and collective intelligence, gifts, and divergent points of view.

Jesus said in a loud voice, “Whoever believes in me, believes not only in me but also in him who sent me. I have come into the world as light, that everyone who believes in me should not remain in the darkness. Whoever hears my message and does not obey it, I will not judge him. I came, not to judge the world, but to save it” John 12:44-47

Our Faith Beliefs

We are advocates for those who need to be heard so that they may seek and find a more enriching spiritual life in the Church with full social justice and dignity.

The Parish is where the Church lives. Parishes are communities of faith, of action, and of hope. They are where the Gospel is proclaimed and celebrated. Canon Law preserves the right of parishioners to take responsibility for their parish through elected pastoral and finance councils.

As members of Spirited Lay Action Movement, Inc., we are concerned with what is happening to our Church. We are concerned about the future of the Church because of the continuing scandals involving  sexual and financial abuses. We are concerned about the lack of accountability on the part of the Ecclesial Community and the applied tactic of “benign neglect” which presumes that by ignoring these scandals, life will go back to normal after the initial storm passes. This behavior on the part of the Ecclesial Community has divided our Church and driven Catholics away from their own parish families. We will not be ignored, nor will we allow our rights to be violated.

“I tell you most solemnly, we speak only about what we know and witness only to what we have seen and yet you people reject our evidence.” John 3: 11

Our Affiliations

Human weakness is a human condition. Because the Church is composed of sinners, it is both sinful and holy. By the power of the Risen Christ, the Church finds strength to overcome patiently  the hardships which assail it from within and without. Though weak, the Church can still show forth the mystery of the Lord.

Dogmatic Constitution On The Church (Lumen Gentium) 8

bullet We believe in and support other Faith-based organizations who seek dialogue with the Church of Rome and local bishops to bring about changes that meet the needs of our evolving understanding of the Gospels and the spirit of Vatican II.

bullet We have formed a Council of Advisors who share information and practices that can effect change within our Church.

bullet Our Council of Advisors are knowledgeable Theologians, Canon Lawyers, Civil Lawyers, Lay Reform Leaders, Priests and Sisters who live in the light of our changing Church. They are people who are grounded in the real Church – the living Church, not living in the isolated world of Church administration.

bullet Together, we form a coalition of Faith-based reform organizations who share COMMON GROUND in reclaiming a more democratic and inclusive Church.

“There is nothing concealed that will not be revealed, nor secret that will not be known. Therefore whatever you have said in the darkness will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered behind closed doors will be proclaimed on the housetops.” (Luke 8:16-18)

“A Blessing”

May the light of your soul guide you.
May the light of your soul bless the work that you do
With the secret love and warmth of your heart.
May you see in what you do the beauty of you own soul.
May the sacredness of your work bring healing, light
And renewal to those who work with you
And to those who see and receive your work.
May your work never weary you.
May it release within you wellsprings of
Refreshment, inspiration and excitement.
May you never become lost in bland absences.
  May the day never burden.
May dawn find you awake and alert,
Approaching your new day with dreams,
possibilities and promises.
May evening find you gracious and fulfilled.
May you go into the night blessed, sheltered and protected.
May your soul calm, console and renew you.
